“Far from the Maddening Crowd”: Understanding Yourself and Others

” Hardly anyone understands what a soul is. It is a very subtle aspect that has to be understood.  Souls are extremely subtle and imperishable. Neither a soul nor his part can be destroyed…

To Be a Cooperative Soul means to be an Easy Yogi

on-giving-happiness

The first blessing you receive at your Brahmin Birth is the blessing of being an easy yogi.  Ask yourself, Am I an elevated soul who has received this blessing from the Father?  Constantly keep this blessing in your intellect.  This is what it means to have this blessing in your life.  Are you a soul that is constantly blessed?  Do you know the way to keep this blessing with you at all times?  What is the easiest way of all to do this?  Do you know?

TO COOPERATE WITH EVERYONE AND SERVE~  ONLY A COOPERATiVE SOUL CAN BE AN EASY YOGI~

What is the reason for not being able to do this? You don’t know how to take care of the blessing and spiritual gift you have received at your Brahmin birth.  YOU BECOME CARELESS IN BEING POWERFUL THROUGH YOUR AWARENESS.  Constantly keep faith with the intoxication of this as your blessing from birth.  USE THIS BLESSING TO SeRVE ALL SOULS.

TO BE COOPERATIVE IN SERVICE IS THE EASY WAY TO BE AN EASY YOGI.

`HAVE ONE AIM:  I HAVE TO GIVE COOPERATION…I HAVE TO BE COOPERATIVE.

KEEP THE AIM OF SIMPLY REMAINING COOPERATIVE FOR EVERY TASK YOU CARRY OUT THROUGHOUT THE DAY

And He sang me a song I will never forget…

little-boy-flyingSome Comic Relief from Dr. Seuss~This afternoon my 7 year old grandson asked me to read a book I got him over three years ago.  Its called: Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are? by Dr. Seuss.  Here are a few funny and wise excerpts from it from me to you.

When I was quite young and quite small for my size,                                                                  I met an old man in the Desert of Drize.                                                                                      And he sang me a song I will never forget.                                                                                  At least, well, I haven’t forgotten it yet.

He sat in a terribly prickly place.                                                                                                         But he sang with a sunny sweet smile on his face:                                                                   When you think things are bad, when you feel sour and blue,                                              When you start to get mad…you should do what I do!

Just tell yourself, Duckie, you’re really quite lucky!                                                                       Some people are much more… oh ever so much more…                                                        Oh, muchly much-much more                                                                                                         Unlucky than you!

It’s a troublesome world.  All the people who’re in it                                                                     Are troubled with troubles almost every minute.                                                                     You ought to be thankful, a whole heaping lot,                                                                          For the places and people you’re not!

Great way to go into the Day!  Have Mercy for All!!!

What K.I.D.S. did for pre-schoolers and their parents is continued with “LIVING VALUES EDUCATION”

Featured Image -- 3167

As one popular child psychologist suggests: “Children learn what they live”.  Since all behaviors emerge from the home environment and early childhood experiences, it is important that parents be actively involved in their child’s educational life as well as ‘model’ the behaviors they wish to see.

As Phyllis Kunimura expressed in her book Beyond the Sandbox/ Preschool Matters:

“We believe that parents love their children, want the best for their children, and have good intentions.  But not all parents know how to parent in a positive, encouraging” effective way.  “They feel that the way they were parented, which is the model they are most apt to follow, was good enough for them, so it must be good enough for their children…Being a parent in this new millenium means understanding basic brain research, attending parenting skills classes and realizing the importance of stable loving relationships…It also means understanding that children are happier and more secure when parents set consistent limits”.

Instead of giving in to a child, it is important to guide her/him in a positive way.

Phyllis Kunimura’s ideas for a stellar pre-school program to guide pre-schoolers to natural success in kindgergarten was based on her background of thirty years as a kindgergarten teacher.  Her ideas plus her vast experience are the basis of Kauai Independent Daycare Services, Inc. (K.I.D.S.).

Likewise when Diane Tillman embarked on developing an international values-education project for toddlers, school-aged children and young adults, it was backed by her work with thousands of parents during two decades as a successful school psychologist.  Her ideas coupled with her vast experience for guiding children and their parents grew into a comprehensive values-education approach called Living Values Education (LVE).  In the foreward to Diane’s book Nurturing with Love and Wisdom, Discipling with Peace and Respect she has written that:

“LVE provides methods and activities for educators and caregivers to actively engage and allow children the opportunity to explore, experience and express twelve universal values.”  She goes on to say that: “Fifteen values-education books later, I have circled the globe many times, teaching and facilitating a process for adults to explore how they can teach children about peace, respect, love, tolerance, cooperation, and honesty and develop a values-based atmosphere where values are readily acquired.”

We have a small,  highly motivated, team of administrators and LVE facilitators living here on Kauai now offering their services to parents and school administrators  alike.

To inquire about parenting skills classes and /or facilitating your child’s school to become an LVE school, call Donna @ 639-9436 or Deborah @651-4534

Reflections~Under the Mango Tree

Featured Image -- 4080

This is a true story about a grand mango tree.  This tree stands in India til today and serves as a “voice” for all others of its species.

Each summer it produced hundreds of mouth-watering mangoes which the diligent owners collected, without letting any go to waste.  They gladly distributed these luscious gifts to their family and friends, far and wide.

One year, someone started to feel that it was getting ‘old’ and burdensome to have to distribute so many mangoes to friends and family.  Others started to pick up on the feeling.  No one expressed it to the tree, but they started to feel like it was a weight on their shoulders to have sooo many mangoes.

The next year, the mango tree obediently gave no mangoes.  It felt the message that was transmitted from the humans…too much work, too many mangoes…we have other things to do than to care of all of this fruit.

A few awake souls realized how the mango tree was simply responding in the kindest way possible to the unspoken thoughts of the humans.  Its response to the negative feedback was immediate the next season.

When all the caretakers of the mango tree realized the same thing and began wishing that the mango tree would share its fruits once again, it took three years before this happened.

Why was there such an immediate effect of the ‘negative stream of thoughts’ while it took so long (3 years) for the ‘positive stream of thoughts’ to take affect?  Since negative thoughts come into the mind in a fast and heavy storm-like manner, the damage they create is quite immediate,  while positive thoughts take longer to reverse and rebuild the course that negativity creates.  Positive thoughts must be practiced over and over until they become a steady habit and eliminate the residue of ordinary and negative thoughts.  Be patient and have faith.  Check your thoughts throughout the day, make sure you are traveling on the stream of pure thoughts for they will surely take you to the desired destination of health, harmony, and abundance.

A Love Letter from the ONE~

Shivalaya

Isn’t it interesting that we all started out as pure and positive beings (souls) and that only after the Great Cleansing, will we all be that once again…Such is the Father’s Great Love!

In today’s Murli, a wonderful love letter that many yogis who practice Raja Yoga read and study every day, it was noted that: “It is with great difficulty that body consciousness breaks.  Only when you consider yourself to be bodiless can there be love for the Father.

Otherwise the intellect (higher mind, conscience/heart) is caught up with the karmic accounts of the body,” i.e. who said what to whom? what’s she wearing> where’s the money coming from? why did it have to be like that!!!???

That’s just for starters!   Karmic accounts of the body include: relationships, finances, livelihood, the limited, perishable things that take up a lot, if not all of our time.

Too often we, as…
